Muroran Institute of Technology is also collaborating with companies to conduct research into robotic cultivation techniques, automated control techniques for greenhouse cultivation using AI (artificial intelligence), and ways to enhance the functionality of food.

Muroran City, known as a "town of manufacturing," is home to many steel, shipbuilding, machinery, and other manufacturing manufacturers and is one of the most important manufacturing bases in Hokkaido.
Muroran Institute of Technology is working with various manufacturers to develop new materials and products that will support Japan in the 21st century, as well as to develop energy-saving technologies and build systems, an area that is expected to see increasing demand in the future.

Muroran Institute of Technology is conducting research in various fields of disaster prevention, including establishing earthquake-proofing technologies for buildings, using AI to provide relief in disaster-stricken areas, investigating the foundations of earthquakes and establishing reconstruction models.
