Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) Research Group, represented by Prof. ITAKURA Ken-ichi and Assist. Prof. TAKAHASHI Kazuhiro, received YSRM2019 & REIF2019 Award on December 3rd, 2019.

Out of 174 papers presented at the 5th ISRM Young Scholars’ Symposium on Rock Mechanics (YSRM) and the International Symposium on Rock Engineering for Innovative Future, this award was given to the most outstanding paper by the first author under the age of 35.

Besides, 1 Excellent Paper Award, 1 Young Researcher Excellent Paper Award and 2 Excellent Poster Awards were also conferred during the awarding ceremony. This international conference, held in Okinawa, was attended by 274 people from 20 countries.
