How to spend your time at university

We will introduce lectures, laboratories, and facilities unique to Muro Institute of Technology.

There are many different opportunities to learn!

Self-study

I study in the library between classes and after school.
There are plenty of study facilities such as books and computers, so it's comfortable! Even if you have a problem, you can solve it immediately!

Affiliated Library

With an abundance of books and study space, the library is a comfortable place for us students to study.
In addition, you can use the computers to write reports, do design work, and do research on the Internet! You can also watch DVDs in the audiovisual space.

Scene from the lecture

Muro Institute of Technology offers classes where students can experience the content of each department. This is a bridge contest held in one of these departments, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. University classes are very flexible and are led by students. Through group work and other interactions, we are able to make more and more friends.

What is a bridge contest?

In the bridge contest, participants build bridges using limited materials, and compete to win the ratio of the weight of the bridge to the weight it can withstand (specific load). Through this exercise, participants learn the secrets of structural strength, and this knowledge can be applied to strength design.

Let's take a look at the lab!

Department of Systems Chemistry (Chemical and Biological Systems Course)

I am conducting research on proteins. I am working hard on my research, repeating experiments and considerations.

Research into muscle contraction is conducted here, and the results will be used to prevent and improve arteriosclerosis and myocardial infarction.

Department of Systems Science and Chemistry (Mathematical Information Systems Course)

The way he sits at his computer is truly informative.
I analyze the results of simulations using programming, improve algorithms, and develop systems. I make improvements every day while consulting with my teachers, seniors, and friends.

Here, with "optimization" as the keyword, we are working on aircraft structural design, phase retrieval in diffraction microscopes, etc. For example, the establishment of a phase retrieval method in diffraction microscopes will enable the structure of proteins to be elucidated with atomic-scale resolution, accelerating the development of new medicines and carbon materials.

Let's create the future of robots!

Robot Arena

We take on the challenge of building robots, have exciting robot contests, and develop robot experts through study and research. We also hold experience classes that can be enjoyed by everyone from elementary school students to adults, and engage in activities to work on new businesses in collaboration with local, domestic, and overseas companies.
It is a space where elementary school students, university students, citizens and researchers alike can gain an interest in robots.

In addition to these, there are many other robots, such as a robot that can eat by itself by being operated by a person with a disability using their chin, a robot that can find the shortest route to the goal in a maze, and a robot that plays soccer.
What's more, this arena is open to the public, not just engineering students!
They also hold events for elementary school students, where they make kits and play with the children.

Let's spread the joy of manufacturing!

Manufacturing Infrastructure Center

As a technical university located in Muroran, the "town of manufacturing," we are expanding our scope of activities outside of school, such as interacting with nearby elementary, junior high, and high schools, collaborating with local companies and organizations, and interacting with the general public. We hold manufacturing symposiums and lectures, techno cafes, smoke education forums, and children's manufacturing classes. We are also a center that engages in technical exchange and technology transfer with local engineers.

Cremo is available to all students at Muroran Institute of Technology. Here, students can make various things using specialized machines. It is used for classes, mainly for mechanical engineering departments, and can also be used as one of the students' hobbies.
Cremo's staff are students from our university. You can enjoy using the facility under the guidance of friendly staff.
